Shona McIntyre-Bull was a founding member of the NZ National Youth Choir, and sang with the choir from 1979 – 1984. She holds a BA in History and an Exec Dip Mus in singing. Shona trained as a primary school teacher. From 1989 – 2000 she was Music Advisor to schools in the Auckland region, and then took up a post as Lecturer in Music Education at the Auckland College of Education. Shona has been the Teacher in Charge of Junior High School Music at Auckland Diocesan School for Girls for the past 6 years. She conducts two award winning choirs at the school. Virtuoso Voce (year 7 and 8 choir) were placed 2nd in the 10th China International Choral Festival held in Beijing in 2010. This choir has for the last three times it has entered, also been awarded the top choir prize at the Auckland Region THE KIDS SING competition run by the New Zealand Choral Federation (NZCF). Her Bella Cantoris choir (Year 9 and 10) were given a Highly Commended award at the 2010 BIG SING competition – the highest award available honouring choirs at regional competition level, and Best Year 9 – 10 Choir Award at the 2011 BIG SING competition – again run by the NZCF. Shona sings with a number of local choirs and small ensemble groups.
